Neko and his friends meet in Chiado on a late summer afternoon. They wander through the streets of a city that, like them, seems like a teenager going through changes. By the Tagus River, they meet other young people sprawled out on the grass. Among them is Matilde, who sees in Neko her best friend from nursery school, Carolina, with whom she lost contact and whom she liked very much.

In the 1980s, on a summer's day, Rui Carlos and his friends Maranau and Tomané enjoy their free time in the neighbourhood, playing football and other games. Rui Carlos repairs his worn-out shoes and goes out to borrow the valuable football from his neighbour, Dona Olinda, who entrusts it to him every day. With the teams formed, the game begins, but soon the typical interruptions arise: a visit from Mascote the dog, a break for snacks and new games. However, when the ball gets punctured, Rui Carlos is left alone to deal with the responsibility and challenges of adulthood.
