Turma Curtas returns to Vila do Conde for its 4th edition, from 10 to 20 November 2026. The Teatro Municipal and the Auditório Municipal will host film screenings exclusively for students and teachers, featuring a selection of films from the children's and youth sections of the 34th Curtas Vila do Conde.

The selection is divided into four programmes, designed for different ages and interests.

Curtinhas

Three sessions for the youngest audiences, for ages 3+, 6+ and 9+. The films tell stories of adventure, friendship and caring for the planet, among others.

European Audience Award

Four short films chosen by audiences at several festivals, including Curtas Vila do Conde. The selection is part of the European Short Film Audience Award (ESFAA), which brings together nine festivals to showcase the best of European short film. The films explore the world we live in, family life and the ways we relate to one another, always with a close, human perspective.

CineCiência

In partnership with Centro de Ciência Viva, five films bring science to the big screen. Expect journeys across the universe, unusual beings, special creatures and even aliens!

My Generation

Two sessions curated by young people from four secondary schools in the region and from the School of Media Arts and Design (ESMAD). They choose the films and, through them, show us what their generation thinks about and what worries it.

Also on display at the Teatro Municipal is the My Generation Poster Exhibition, created by Graphic Design undergraduates at ESMAD – Polytechnic of Porto.

PROGRAMME

This year, we are highlighting accessible screenings for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community, featuring interpretation in Portuguese Sign Language (LGP) and subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing (LSE), as well as a special "CineCiência" (CineScience) session, held in partnership with the Centro Ciência Viva. We will also be joined by Alice Eça Guimarães, the director of Porque Hoje é Sábado ("Because Today is Saturday").
